Catching Up

Since the first of the year I have been working on inventory and organization. I can say that it has been real slow going. I can't believe all that I have. 4 years ago I started buying supplies in quantity because I knew we were moving here (New Mexico)and that I wanted to sell jewelry making supplies and quilling supplies. What I never did then was keep an inventory. I kept all the receipts so that is a plus. So now slowly I am getting everything entered. It has been real interesting to see how prices have or have not changed over the years. We all know how sterling silver prices have changed. I am not even half way finished but I have a good system going. I live in a rural area and hope to create a traveling bead store. I also am in a small co-op in Weed. This little place we have has such charm. If you are ever in the area of Weed, NM stop by the Weed Gallery and Gifts.

But even with all the work on the inventory I still am managing to create some wonderful pieces. I hope you enjoy them.

First sale on Artfire and Etsy

I just have to write about my a first online sale after many, many months of trying. What an absolutely incredible feeling this first sale was. I admit I am an email junkie. I am constantly checking my messages through out the day. You know just in case someone sends me something really special. Then, oh my gosh, something special is received, notification of a sale. WooHoo! I couldn't believe my eyes. I reread the message several times. Holy crap what do I do now, I made a sale. So I went to my online store, looked in the sold items area and lo and behold there was my sale. Then another email comes in from PayPal saying payment was received. Panic again, the sale is for real, now I have to figure out how to shipped it out. First I go look at my PayPal account and suddenly there is money in it. Wow money in my PayPal account that is too cool, and I didn't even put it there someone else did. I have to say that PayPal sure makes it easy. So I gathered the sold items, a padded envelope all papers that were being mailed, piled it all up on my scale and weighed everything. Back to PayPal where I was able to select the type of package it was, the weight of the package and then purchase postage and print a packing slip and a mailing label. After the initial panic subsided I realized how easy it was. It felt so good that someone visited my store and felt I was worth buying from. And can you believe it but I had a second sale the same day and since then 3 more sales. I had read that getting the first sale is the hardest. I have to admit that I am addicted.

A New Year and New Goals

My last post said I want to be a blogger. That still holds true but I failed miserably last year. I still had nothing to say. Well that is changing. At the very end of December I decided to take control of things and focus on what is important to me. Jewelry and Crafts. When we moved to New Mexico almost 3 years ago one of the things I was going to do was sell beads and craft supplies. I live in the boonies without any shopping within 50 miles, and a lot of RV parks. I wanted to create a traveling bead and supply store. Here it is almost 3 years into this and all I have done is talk about it. I am a part time accountant that works remotely and I have let that be my drive but now I am not. That work will have it's own special time (I got to pay the bills somehow). So starting the beginning of January I started making an inventory of my finished work and beads that I have collected to start this adventure. I am almost half way through the inventory. I have been listing on Art Fire and Etsy and Woohoo, I made my first sales. Now you got to understand I am an introvert. Yep I looked up the definition of introvert on the internet. That described me completely. Well I plan to call around to the RV parks to see if I can set up a table at their park. I also have a goal to have at least 100 items posted to ArtFire and Etsy real soon. Artfire is up to 80. I will succeed. I plan to post my progress, successes and failures here. I have calendared to blog every Friday. I also hope to help others who maybe trying to do the same things. Thanks for listening and I hope you will follow me.

A Wanna be Blogger

I truly want to be a blogger. I really do plan to update my blog weekly but I can't even do it monthly. Why is that? I have nothing to say. My Friends would probably disagree that I have nothing to say but when it comes to updating the blog I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY! I do a lot of things. I have a wonderful garden and the vegetables are filling my freezer. I have been cutting jump rings out of the new colored wire that I got from Parawire and the colors are wonderful. I have been busy making chainmaille jewelry. I just had a week of company. We went to Carlsbad Caverns. I have made 4 necklaces over the past two weeks but have I shared them? NO!!!!!!!! I did get them posted on Artfire and Etsy. You can see them here www.darkridgecreations.artfire.com. Actually I don't talk to people much. I live in a very rural mountain community and leave home maybe once a week. I have never been good at idle chit chat. I am going to be visiting California for almost 4 weeks. I am very excited about this. Oh well, I will continue trying to post once a week and if I only post once a month I will be so happy. Thanks for listening.

Quilled Blank Note Card with Yellow Roses

This note card is embellished with quilled designs. Each quilled item is personally made by me. The note card measures 4x6 and includes the envelope. These cards can be mailed. A thin piece of card stock is included and should be placed over the quilling when inserted into envelope for mailing. Extra postage may be required when mailing quilled cards.

The note card is blank inside for you to add your own message. You could write your message on a small separate piece of paper to include in your card. Quilled cards can be considered a frameable art. Framing instructions are included for you to pass along with the card which makes these a gift and a greeting. (via Dark Ridge Creations - Art Fire)
